Abderraman

Abderraman was emir of Spain. Survivor of a massacre, he went for a time to Africa to return to southern Spain and organize his forces. After the battle of Guadalvivir, in 756, he established Cordoba as his capital city, commanding the construction of monuments, gardens and a famous mosque to embellish it. He faced Charlemagne in the banks of the Ebro river, but the latter retreated without fighting. Abderraman lived between the years 731 and 788.
